Ava tries out cheerleading! at OneTrueMedia.com

Ava took a week long cheerleading camp. She did a good job, did not know anyone and had a good time. She was exhausted because it was hot and she was outside all week! I was so proud of her that she went every day and tried to make new friends. Her coach's sang her praises for listening and sharing snacks and being friendly.

Let's Try this blogging thing again....Reid's is now 2 and Ava is almost 5

I started this blog when Reid was an infant, I was not working and most likely suffering post partum... Now he is 2, Ava is almost 5 I am working and my life is in a completely different place then I expected it would be at this time.

I have finally accepted who I am as Mom which feels great and I am looking forward to the coming years with the kids. BUT....I am realizing how easy it is to forget the cute things they say or do each day. I forget to tell Grandma and Meema all the cute stuff. So here are a few tidbits from the week:

Avacles and Reidicals:
  • Sunday - we were rear ended while sitting in our parked car - at least the kids will get new car seats. No one was hurt, we were basically just tapped. They were zoning out on a DVD in our car (which I swore I would never have before I was a parent).
  • Monday - Whitney our babysitter locked Reid in the car, she called the fire department and they opened the door to him saying "Hi...Stickers?" (He rembered the last time Whitney showed him a fire truck in the Safeway parking lot they passed out stickers)
  • Tuesday - had to show the house with 20 minutes notice so Chris and I took the kids to Tutti Frutti where Ava filled the gallon of ice cream with every topping available and ate half of it. Reid kept taking the napkins off the table and out of the dispenser, one by one to put in the trash. He would shout with great enthusiasm "I did it!"
  • Wednesday - Long day at work, kids swam all day with Whitney. Stories included Reid hitting Mrs. Hill, him saying "Love you" to her to get more time in the pool and Ava getting great at swimming!
  • Thursday - No Whitney - poor thing in terrible tooth pain turns out it was the wrong tooth. So I tired to work from home; my kids were like survivalists - Reid did not nap the TV was on most of the day, I did put on Sesame Street which always makes me feel less guilty. They played with their figures and the Barbie Cars, Real Cars that was fun to watch! I took Ava to Pediatric Motor Playground and our friends came over to play at night for what my husband called a BBQ playdate - we got Back Forty.
  • Friday - Reid wanted Mommy a lot (Mommy wished she could just sit and hold him and Ava too!). He told me "No, No, Work" yep cute and kind of sad....
We'll see what tomorrow brings....

Naming A Blog

I've wanted to start a blog for about a year. I thought it would be a great way to journal my life staying home with my now 3 year old Ava and our son Reid. Last March I left my job as an Account Executive while I was expecting Reid to return to life as a Stay at Home Mom. It's been a busy year and my friend Alison recently reminded me of my desire to start a blog when she told me about hers. She is expecting her first child in June!

So, last week I started this blog page, but when it came time to come up with a name I could not think of one that was not already in use. The only somewhat intelligent stimluation I get most days is a 5-10 minute game of Solitaire on the computer so I tried Solitaire Mom, it's taken. I think by a single Mom - guess that makes sense. Then I looked at something like MomSpace, duh of course that's taken. Then I thought about using the kids names, but felt it was too obvious. Instead I decided on Reidicals, because that's the nickname my husband has given our son and it seemed to be a great play on words. I am still putting together this blog at the moment but I hope to update it often.
